GenAIGov
DSN's Generative AI Governance Readiness Assessment Platform (GenAIGov) – a self-assessment tool scoring AI governance maturity across the eight-part STANDARD framework.
GenAIGov is DSN's Generative AI Governance Readiness Assessment Platform – an interactive web application that lets organisations, public-sector players, and developers self-assess how responsibly they build, develop, and deploy AI. It is live at genaigov.ai, developed by DSN and funded by the Gates Foundation, and it directly operationalises the Hub's AI governance and responsible-AI capabilities.
What it does
Users answer a structured questionnaire across key ethical, regulatory, and operational parameters and receive a readiness score plus a downloadable report and badge reflecting their maturity.
This is a readiness assessment, not a certification – it provides best-practice insight, not legal or regulatory approval.
The STANDARD framework
Assessment runs across eight dimensions – the STANDARD framework – tracked
with a real-time completion indicator (0/8 → 8/8):
| # | Dimension | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| S | Systems | AI infrastructure & governance frameworks |
| T | Transparency | Explainability & openness |
| A | Algorithms | Ethical & responsible AI model development |
| N | Norms | Legal & industry compliance |
| D | Deployment | Safe & effective AI implementation |
| A | Accountability | Responsibility & oversight |
| R | Risk | Identifying & mitigating AI risks |
| D | Data | Ethical data collection & security |
Questions are multiple-choice (Yes / No / I don't know), scored against predefined governance maturity levels and updated dynamically as users progress.
Scoring, reports & badges
- Visual readiness score – Low, Medium, or High.
- Downloadable report – a summarised assessment with improvement recommendations, exportable as PDF for compliance documentation.
- Gamified badges by score tier:
Users create a lightweight profile (name + email, no password) to keep an assessment history, download past reports, and retake the assessment to track improvement over time.
Administration
- Admin dashboard – user management (filter by industry, region, category), assessment analytics (completion rates, average scores, trends), and branding controls; data export as CSV / Excel.
Technology & compliance
| Layer | Technology |
|---|---|
| Frontend | Next.js, React – responsive, mobile-first |
| Backend | Node.js / Python (Django), PostgreSQL |
| Auth | Auth0 / Firebase (email-based, passwordless) |
| Infrastructure | Cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP); PDF-generation API; subdomain & branding management |
| Compliance | Data encryption; GDPR / NDPR; opt-in consent; no data sharing without consent |
Relevance to NAISH
GenAIGov is the ready-made front door for the Hub's governance posture. Any team seeking to run a use case on the NAISH node can be asked to establish AI governance readiness first – GenAIGov provides the structured, scored, national instrument for that. It also demonstrates DSN's methodology for turning responsible-AI principles into an operational, measurable assessment, which the Hub's responsible-AI assessment capability builds on.
Developed by Data Science Nigeria (DSN), funded by the Gates Foundation.
GovLLMiner / AIKano
DSN's Government LLMiner – an offline-first, governance-tuned LLM system (piloted as AIKano for Kano State) that turns unstructured government data into evidence for decision-making.
EdoDiDA Chatbot
DSN's Gates-funded natural-language chatbot built on DHIS2 for the Edo State Digital Governance and Data Management Agency, turning government data into plain-language insight for decision-makers.
